Categories
Full Membership is available to those who are
employed or resident in the United Kingdom - specifically,
teachers or lecturers of art and design from all phases
of education in full-time or part-time employment and
administrators, local authority advisers, inspectors,
education consultants, museum and gallery educators and
others who support the objects of the Society. Such
members are entitled to all the benefits of Society
membership.
A teacher and lecturer in their first year of teaching
may receive all the benefits of Full Membership at a discount of 50%
of the subscription for this category of membership.
Associate
Membership is an option for those who are
applying for membership of the Society for
the first time. Specifically teachers or lecturers of art and design
from all phases of education in full-time or part-time employment, and
administrators, local authority advisers, inspectors, education consultants,
museum and gallery educators and others who support the objects of the Society,
together with teachers and lecturers based overseas. This category excludes
legal advice and aid but includes all subject association benefits.
A non-specialist primary school teacher may receive all benefits of Associate
Membership at a discount of 50% of the subscription for this category of membership.
Collegiate
Membership is available to colleges,
faculties and university departments, either free
standing or within an institution, with students
following courses in art and design or art and design
education. Secondary school or tertiary college
departments or faculties of art and design/design and
technology/creative arts are also eligible for collegiate
membership, as are commercial agencies, excluding those managed by local
authorities offering inspection, advice and consultancy wholly or in part
for any phase of art and design education. Such membership is normally
represented by a named member of the staff concerned with art and
design/design and technology/creative arts.
This category excludes legal advice and aid but includes all subject association
benefits
Collegiate
Primary Sector Membership is
available to schools which cater in part or whole for children between the age of 3 and 11.
Membership is normally vested in a school representative - usually the
art and design co-ordinator or the head teacher. This category excludes legal advice and aid
but includes all subject association benefits including START and the Society's newsletter A'n'D.
It also excludes the opportunity to stand for election to committees and boards.
Student
Teacher Membership includes a subscription to either the
