New Secondary Curriculum Aims
Art and design has a distinctive contribution to make to the aims of the national curriculum.
The overall curriculum aims are the same three for each subject both in Primary and in Secondary education. This appears at the start of the art and design programme of study. It states that the curriculum aims to enable all young people to become:
Successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve;
Confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives;
Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
