Year 7 project – The Terracotta Army
Art and design teachers worked with an AST (Learning) and English staff, with the additional involvement of a member of staff responsible for inclusion, as well
as an artist in residence who was located in the art department at the time. The planning group decided to focus the cross-curricular project on two
exhibitions: the "First Emperor's Terracotta Army", full-size ceramic figures on display at the British Museum, and an exhibition of Chinese art and artefacts
at Compton Verney. The art and design teacher decided that the students would use the medium of ceramics and the English focus was established as extending students'
awareness of different forms of writing and writing styles.
