Iain Macdonald is Associate Professor in the Department of Design Innovation at Maynooth University, Ireland, and a Member of the Chartered Society of Designers.
After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA Hons Visual Communication, Iain began his career as a motion graphic designer at the BBC, and then as a commercials director before becoming a Design academic.
He joined NSEAD in 2007 as a mature student at the IOE where he achieved a MA Art & Design Education. He worked in secondary schools and a Sixth Form College teaching Photography A Level before moving to a career in Higher Education with posts at Edinburgh Napier University and London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.
Iain's research in motion graphics, STEAM, intercultural competency, co-design and design pedagogy have been widely published in many journals and he has served on the iJADE Editorial Committee since 2022.
