On Wednesday 27 June 2017 Arts Council England announced funding for its new National Portfolio of organisations for 2018-2022. For the first time museums and libraries have been eligible for this funding stream, new entrants in this category include the Bowes Museum in Teesdale.
183 new organisations have joined the portfolio, the process is competitive, many have applied for the first time and been disappointed, some have lost portfolio status and will be focusing on seeking alternative funding opportunities.
The majority of these organisations work directly or indirectly with teachers, children young people and the visual arts.
The Society celebrates all the National Portfolio Organisations, successful or not today, for the commitment they have for everyone in the education sector.
