Making good use of otherwise unusable plasticene is the starting point for this unit. The material is used to make a 'stamp' which is indented in various ways and then used for printing textured sheets of paper.
This mini-unit can link in with other units about texture and printing. For example, look at 'marks and textures', 'experimenting with texture and making clay tiles', 'a simple printed pattern' and 'repeating patterns'. Plan a unit of your own that combines one or more of these units into a substantial series of experiences for the children.
