Learners (S1 and S2) follow a brief to design a mask suitable for the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.
The design brief states the mask has to be functional, have raised 3D sections, and include pattern and bright colours. Learners evaluate a peer’s mask then respond to the peer’s comments on their own masks. Learners investigate a focussed area of Mexican culture, artists, and/or events such as the Day of the Dead festival. Some students might choose to use a letter format to evaluate an artist’s work.
