Invite the children to bring in their favourite toys to make a class 'still life'. Discuss their toys in terms of the materials they are made from, the way they are constructed and the meaning or value of the toys to the children. If possible, collect other toys from different cultures, for example, Indian puppets, Babushka dolls or wire toys from Africa. Set up the still life using interesting cloth or wrapping paper as a backdrop.
